Priority Sectors
TIDIP initially focuses on the cement, steel, aluminium and fertiliser sectors due to their high emissions intensity, strategic economic importance and need for low-carbon transformation. Through coordination, knowledge sharing and investment mobilisation, the Platform supports the decarbonisation of these sectors.
As additional sectoral roadmaps are developed, the Platform’s scope is expected to expand to other sectors such as glass, ceramics, chemicals and the foundry industry.
Steel
Ranked 8th globally. 71.6% of crude steel from lower-carbon electric arc furnaces — a comparative advantage.
Cement
World's largest cement exporter by volume. Hard-to-abate due to process emissions from clinker manufacturing.
Aluminium
61.8% of exports to the EU. Concentrated in semi-aluminium processing — opportunities in recycling and resource efficiency.
Fertilisers
Strategic for food security. Focus on energy efficiency and green-hydrogen potential in ammonia and nitrogen-based production.
