Frequently Asked Questions
What is TIDIP?
TIDIP is a national platform established by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye together with the EBRD, IBRD and IFC to accelerate the low-carbon transformation of Türkiye’s industry. It brings together policy support, technical expertise and financing to help develop decarbonisation projects and connect them with suitable sources of finance.
Which sectors does TIDIP cover?
TIDIP initially focuses on the steel, cement, aluminium and fertiliser sectors. As additional sectoral Low-Carbon Pathways are developed, the Platform’s scope is expected to expand to other sectors such as glass, ceramics, chemicals and the foundry industry.
What types of investments does TIDIP support?
TIDIP supports investments across five Investment Focus Areas: green hydrogen; carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS); energy efficiency and circular economy; renewable electricity for industry; and emerging climate technologies and green markets. Projects submitted by companies operating in priority sectors should align with one or more of these areas.
Who can apply to TIDIP?
Companies operating in TIDIP’s priority sectors may apply. Projects should align with the relevant sectoral Low-Carbon Pathway and TIDIP’s Investment Focus Areas.
How does TIDIP support projects?
TIDIP accepts projects at different stages of development, from early concepts to finance-ready investments. Based on each project’s needs, TIDIP provides technical preparation support, matches finance-ready projects with suitable sources of finance and financial institutions, and coordinates the process from application to the financing decision.
How are projects assessed?
Applications are assessed based on the company’s sector, the project’s alignment with the relevant sectoral Low-Carbon Pathway and TIDIP’s Investment Focus Areas, and its decarbonisation potential. Projects may be at any stage of development; their stage is used to determine the support needed.
Does TIDIP itself provide financing?
TIDIP does not make financing decisions itself. Its role is to help projects become finance-ready and connect them with suitable financial institutions and sources of finance. Final financing decisions are made by the relevant financial institutions.
What financing options are available under TIDIP?
Depending on the project’s needs, financing options may include concessional loans, commercial loans, blended finance and risk mitigation instruments. The most suitable financing structure is determined for each project individually.
How can I apply to TIDIP?
Until the application portal is launched, project applications will be accepted by email. Once the portal becomes available, applications will be submitted through the TIDIP website.
